Default Ok, riddle me this... Pepboys denied my rebate claim for $5 off per 5-qt of M1 + 1 filter offer,

which I purchased the limit of 2 offers for a total of 10qts and 2 filters for my wife's SUV. (I returned the #301 filter for the A4 since the bypass flow is too low and got another one for the Saab.) I purchased 9 qts of M1 5w30 Extended Performance 15K mile and 1 qt of the M1 5w40 TDT that I needed for my A4 for its recent 110k change. At the cashier, the 5w30 EP didn't come up as the offer, but the manager come over to re-read the offer that said for any M1 full syn oil and changed the price of the oil to $4/qt and $4.99 for the filter. The only reason why I didn't buy more of the M1 5w40 TDT for the SUV was that there wasn't any left because it was completely picked over and I needed/wanted to do the oil change that saturday. I knew I should've just gotten the 5 qts of M1 TDT they had and used my 4 at home for the oil change and put the spare ones in the SUV's storage cubbie, and got something else for my A4 later...or more of the TDT if they had it later before the 30 day offer was over. but, I figured that I was already there and the M1 5w30 EP meets the GM spec for that 4.2L I6 engine. (yeah, Audi Junkie, I know the 5w30 is on the low end, but still better than dino oil, imo, even though you don't agree with that either...for the money)

I got the claim denial postcard in the mail tonight and will be calling the 800# tomorrow morning to b!tch about it and their poorly worded rebate offer.

...just in case you use the M1 offer at Pepboys, read the fine print that I can't find nor the manager when I purchased the oil in the first place.

Default Reading that made my head hurt.... sucks about the rebate denial...

Give it to them hard 'cause it's the only way they'll change their ways (which we both know is highly unlikely).

Default PepBoys is notorious for rebate denial, especially if you deviate from the featured products.

I never really do rebates, but last summer I combined the PepBoys and 1st Drivers Pennzoil Platimum rebates. I got a ton of Purolators too, but the bottom line on the oil was I got paid to buy like 10 cases of PP. I got all the PepBoys rebates back and I think Shell got tired of reading their rebate forms, sending most people back $60 checks from a ~$30 6-pack purchase on top of the other bunch of $20 rebate / 6q coupons, etc. The actual oil was like Buy One / Get One Free too. Made like $50 and got 60q of PP.

The best way to figure purchases is to think of the rebate as a bonus, if you get it, you get it. Rather shoot for clearances and 2:1. Free dino like Pennzoil Yellow is awesome too, worth the trouble for free. I go through a LOT of oil. 20q a year for mine, 16q for the womans and about 10q each for a few other family/friends cars.

Default agreed. I can't complain about $4/qt oil. and, they once printed a buy 3 qts, get 3 qts

in a calendar that you purchased for $1 that had a few other coupons in the back.

it was supposed to say buy 3, get 1 free.

A bunch of local PA/NJ guys purchased as many of the calendars as we could find... that's how I ended up with a ton of the old M1 5w40 TDT.

I think I still have some of the Techron fuel cleaner that was being given away for free.

Default Different prices for different quarts. :)

The "5 quarts and filter" was $29.98 or whatever. So I picked up 5 quarts of Mobil 5W40 TDT for me and a filter for wifey.

They were clearancing out their Mobil 0W30 at $1.95. So I picked up two cases.

Granted, not all of this was at the same time.

Default TJ: What luck for Kyle, huh? Dale better straighten out his ****. Biffle is something else

I knew Biff was a great driver and had the right equipment, just hadn't had the greatest of luck. It was just a matter of time before he found his groove again and it looks like he's got it now. Dale and his beloved outside line didn't work well at Dover at all. He said it chewed up the tires out there and that's why he lost his right rear. He can't screw up even once more now. Unless he wins every other race until the end, he can't finish outside the top 10. It's too tight with Edwards, Biffle, and Johnson running so well.
