Default Please help me AoA is trying to screw me.

I have a 2001 A4 1.8T that is chipped with APR V3 software and an APR exhaust. I brought my car in for the 40,000 mile service today and the service technician informs me that my oxygen sensor is burned out and needs to be replaced. He said it wont be covered under warranty because of my modifications. I asked for AoA's phone number and I called them up. The person I spoke to told me basically the same thing. I am waiting on a call from her supervisor. Doesn't audi have to directly prove that the problem is directly related to the upgrade's?

Thanks

Default magnussen(sp) act is not so much for aftermarket performance parts but instead

aftermarket replacement parts for your car. That is for example, an aftermarket alternator(non-oem). Performance parts i don't believe fall within this range.

Default Yes. According to the "whatchamacallit" law, they have to prove that your mods

caused the problem. But... in your case, I hate to say it, but they probably can. They will most likely "prove" that the extra juice that the chic gives caused the O2 sensor to fail.

Good luck man!

Default Magnusson-Moss Act

not going to be easy to beat AoA in court.

Default engine power output has nothing to do with O2 sensor failure. If anything they will claim that the

chip changed the fuel mapping causing premature failure of the sensor.

Default Could a smog check prove..

you're not emitting emissions above standard, thus you're still legal on the road, and nothing coming out of the tail pipe should be causing the 02 to fail?

Default Yes they do, but it could be pretty ugly before it gets covered

I suppose if you don't want to pay, you could keep going up the chain of command. It could get messy though. How much is it worth to just fix the oxygen sensor yourself? If it's some ridiculous amount then go for it, but if not I'd just take it with a grain of salt, and do it myself. That's me personally. Good luck

They're trying to screw you? Sounds to me like you're new to this game called "modding"

That is correct - the act only applies to "apples for apples" parts
