Problems with oil temp sensor
Has anyone ever had an animal chew the wires to the oil temp sensor? It happened to me twice! The first time I took it to the dealer who said the wires were cut, not only to that sensor, but to the coolant sensor also. I said that was impossible as the sensors are only accessible from above(It seemed to me like someone at the dealer cut the wires). After some serious arguing, they fixed it under warranty. Earlier this week I'm leaving work when the light comes on again. WTF! I'm thinking. When I get home I look at the sensor plug and could see the tape job repair the dealer did and the wires severed yet again. It looked like something tried to chew through the repaired area but hit the metal of the splice connectors so it moved down a few inches and cut right through. I have come to the conclusion it is some kind of animal, but can't understand why it would pick these particular wires and chew them more than once. No one else at work has any problems. Any ideas?

Re: Problems with oil temp sensor
StrikerNo9, I just had the exact same thing happen to me. My wife left our 2001.5 1.8tq outside last night, and when she started it this morning the "oil sensor" light came on. I had it towed to the dealer (their expense), and left it there all day. Finally, they called and told me it looked like a rodent had chewed on the wire! They cut out the chewed part, spliced in a new wire, and didn't charge me for the labor. IMHO, I think the little critters might be attracted to the paraffin wax Audi uses to protect their cars during shipping. BTW, this is my first post in this excellent forum.
