Question on replacing tires...
I'm about to need my first set of replacement tires for my 99.5 1.8TQMS. I like the stock Dunlop 8000E's that I have now. I've gotten 50K miles out of them. Anyway, the 8000E's are about $30 more expensive than the regular 8000's. Anyone know or experienced the difference? Anyone gone with the 8000's and have any feedback on them compared to the "E's"?
Any other tire recommendations for a daily driver would be appreciated.
Thanks.

If you got 50K out of a SP8000E, you're not driving!
The "E" designation buys you a rim protector on the sidewall of the tire, and a tread compound with higher silica content for better wet traction, and better treadlife.
If you got 50K out of the 8000E's, I would say you're not driving aggressively enough to warrant spending money on high perf. tires. $130/tire for 8000E's is probably a waste of money. I can't give you specific recommendations on tires, but try going to tirerack.com. They have a questionaire set up to help you select an appropriate tire. I'm sure you could find something suitable for under $100 a tire.

You're right...
I don't drive very aggressively. My commute to work is mostly interstate. I like the feel of the 8000e's, so would the regular 8000 for $97/tire be a good buy for me?

Well, yes, but what I'm really trying to say is that you can get a longer wearing tire
for $100 or less, if you shop around, rather than limiting yourself to high perf. tires (which are designed to wear off quickly in exchange for extra grip, which you probably don't need).
The 8000's will wear quicker than their "E" counterparts. Based on what you're getting with the E's, I would estimate that you'll get 40K out of the 8000's. So on a mile/dollar basis, the difference in price between the two isn't as great as it might at first seem.
