Transmitter range problem solved
I have a 98.25 and was having issues with the range of my keyless entry. According to the PDF I read, my car is already fitted with the range extender. Wednesday I had the batteries in one remote replaced, Friday night (after a blistering ET of 17 flat) the remote stopped working. My backup worked fine. So, I brought it to the dealer today. The inside was very corroded and they thought I had dropped the transmitter in water (which I did not, although it was pretty humid Friday). After assuring them I did not, and complaining about the 1.5hr wait for a 5 minute solution, I was given a new remote.
Well, the new remote is awesome! It works from 30ft away! I can unlock my car from inside my dorm room! It's the way things should have worked in the beginning, and I love it!
So, is Audi using different transmitters now? The new one is identical to the old one, but the buttons are flat instead of convex, and they have a nicer feel to them.
