Understanding differences between Audi A4 clusters and the compatibility issues
i know that this is an old thread but it very helpfull
i have an A4B5 1.6 8valve 1999 facelift and two days ago i replace the cluster with one from A6C5 1.8T 20valve 1998
A4B5 VDO 8D0 919 861 H
A6 VDO 4B0 919 860 XP
dashboards are identical (no center LCD screen, 32pin back green & blue connectors, 10pin back center black connector)
just the A6 have 2 extra gauges of oil temperature & battery voltage.
Everything is working great apart from two things
A. the oil temperature gauge level is not working
B. the rear trank door open indicator is always on
any info how can i correct this issues?
The guy that swap the clusters and copy-write the immo and eprom could not help any farther
I made a swap from 2003 jager, to vdo. Added the silver connector, wired to the wiper stalk, as described above, and the wiper stalk board computer reset button, and down button doesnt work. Silver connector 14, 15, 16 terminals also showing error icons, assuming theese wires dont connect anywhere. From the wiper connector, i grounded the terminal 2, to the blue connector terminal 7, sensor ground.
What could be wrong with the reset, and down button? Since i didn't find anything from the m73 jager cluster's blue and green connector pinouts, i can't connect the break light, low beam, washer fluid level wires, is there a jager cluster pinout diagram, or doesn't exist?
Thx&best!

What I have currently done is follow some of the previous comments, and I have managed to fix the tachometer. Used VAGCOM on instruments channel 60 and set to 0000.
The next thing is I have done an oil pan swap with a sensor, and I have DIY’d my way into attempting to fix the oil pan temp/level sensor.
I wired wire 1 as my power wire, going from oil sensor up to the fuse box, where I have an inline fuse for protection and a fuse tap into the windshield wiper fuse (only on when car is on).
wire 2 is the ground wire, and i wired this to the engine bay chassis where I found other grounds.
wire 3 goes from sensor to cluster, and by following the above pinout i have that wire in Green 15.
Unfortunately, the oil temp/level sensor still does not work. Important to note though that when I started the car after unplugging battery for a while, the oil sensor and level warning didn’t show up for about ~60 seconds after idling… Possibly I did something right?
I also used vagcom to diagnose, and it said:
00562 - sensor for oil level/temperature (G266) 30-00 - Open or short to plus
00562 - sensor for oil level/temperature (G266) 29-10 - short to ground - intermittent
My thoughts are that maybe the ground wire should go to cluster ground?
And maybe the power wire should go to the terminal 15 pin?
Any help is awesome for this, or any of the issues I am experiencing. Thank you.
