I posted several days ago asking if people had ideas about whether the white smoke coming from the exhaust was a big or small problem. I can't find that thread, so I'll just post this follow up that the car checked out fine and we think it was just some bad gasoline.

The mechanic said he had never even heard of an Audi blowing a head gasket....

Yup. 12 valve 2.8 V6's went through head gaskets, as did the I-5 engines.

Good to hear. did you show her the sticker on the gas cap that says 91?

I'm on that forum regularly and I wasn't aware it was a common problem with that engine.

the 12V will leak oil, but not due to head gaskets
