Default check engine light again!

In reference to a previous thread: https://forums.audiworld.com/a4gen2/msgs/1074059.phtml

I replaced both O2 sensors, fuel filter, checked the vac system for leaks and I am still getting P0171 System to Lean

Mechanic at Zotz here in Orlando said that the oil from my K&N filter (oiled from factory and installed about 4 months ago) destroyed the MAF sensor and that I should switch back to paper and get a new MAF sensor.

Has anyone had this happen? Do y'all think its probably the MAF sensor? I don't think its an injector cause I get no misfire codes or severe loss in power. I am just kinda sick of swappin' parts and hoping to find the solution... lol MAF sensors aren't cheap ya know!

But, it's still better than getting raped by the local "stealer"!

Default would a K&N filter do that?

Would the oil from a K&N filter destroy a mass air flow meter? Anyone ever experienced this?

Default I have...

I used a K&N cone filter (I run a EVOMS intake) and the filter was over-oiled right out of the box. It gave me a CEL a few times but mostly would just throw me into limp mode (I'd get a "car running too rich" DTC). I changed the MAF (I tried cleaning it but it didn't work) and never got a problem again. Now I use the AEM dry filter, there's no oil on them.

Yes, oil from an overoiled K&N filter will screw up the MAF.

Default you know i throw this code every time the weather changes (stage 1+)

i'm guessing there is some sort of LTFT adaption that goes off the scale as the mass air flow go ballistic (freezing cold air!) every time there is massive temp changes (georgia weather).

has happened twice so far this winter when going rapidly from warm to ballz cold.

also my baby gets a cold and passes it to me.

c'est la vie. for the rest of the year no CEL.

i know motronic adapts to lower the boost during the colder months to target the desired load i figure its just adaptation since once the winter weather stabilizes this never occurs again. nor do i have issues when spring comes and the weather warms up.

just an observation

p.s. i switched back to paper filter thanks for reminding me to pick one up i need to change it with oil this month.
