Check Engine Light ON, Catalyic converter?
I recently bought a 1998 Audi A4 V6 Quattro, because my other car got stolen last week. I havent been able to do much research on audi's in general I just know that they are pretty nice cars. But the one I bought had a few problems, and I did get it for a low price. The check engine light was on and it wouldnt pass smog from the previous owner. Went to the shop and they told me they were bad catlyic converters. Two of them apparently since its a V6, which sucks because we have to replace both of them I guess? OBD II said those were bad and there were misfires on almost all cylinders, I was told that was probably caused by the bad cats and probably needed a tune up? I need to find where I can get the best prices on some catlyic converters for my car because I was quoted for 700 dollars for the whole job and these parts are pretty expensive and there arent much generic parts to buy for these audi's. Does this sound like a fair price? because thats a lot more money than i expected to be paying. What else could be wrong with the car if the cats get fixed>? I hope thats all

Before you buy any parts or spend money......
Have your car checked with a VAG-Com, somebody must have one in your area. Use the VAG locator. It could be that you have bad CoilPacks (missfire , check engine , smoke).
