I have both (3-V1's and 1-8500) the 8500 does not get used...
I first pawned it off on my wifes car. She didn't like it either (liked the V1), so I had to buy a third one for her car.
Not that the 8500 is a bad detector... it's a very good one. We just like the arrows, it lets you very quickly determine what the threat is, if any.
