Griffin SmartDeck...Symphony II...NOT compatible!
Thought this might be the cheapest/best sound for my iPOD 5G. My 2003 Audi A4 Avant with Bose spit the cassette adapter out. I tried everything...simply does not work!
Does anyone know if a new Monster Cable adapter would work better then a 15 year old Sony car cassette adapter?

i had a sony cassette adapter... that cost like 5 bucks that i bought in target... it was ok.
Your best bet is to hardwire it though.
I was already hardwired for my old ipod, and now i just got the 5G ipod so i added in a hardwired belkin car charger... it comes out very nice!

I've used a tape adapter with an iPod....
It was my friends however so I don't know what kind it was. Im assuming its relatively new, at least within the past few years. iirc, it only played one way/side (had to hit reverse for the Bose to accept it). Hope this helps.

Yes, for sure. I have Blitzsafe adapter and line out for mine
But if you have to do tape adapter, the Sony one is apparently the best of the bunch. Not saying much, but every little bit helps when you're using something as crappy as a tape adapter.

yeah... i agree... same adapter also :)
the tape adapter works as a good temporary solution in my opinion. But id rather burn a cd before use a tape adapter. Thats why I got the blitzsafe adapter and i have 0 complaints with it!

Hey, I see you have the Belkin with line-out.
I'm not too fond of the built-in amp in that unit, I have one too and I think it sounds like ***. Have you found any other good options for line-out from the iPod besides putting an actual Dock in the car?
I don't know why they couldn't have just left the signal alone. I might hack mine apart and see if I can bypass the amp somehow. Or just get an IceLink and be done with it

check the volume setting on the charger itself ?
i feel like mine sounds more than fine and i have the volume on the belkin charger set relatively low i think.
I know when the volume setting goes up on it, the sound quality definitely gets worse
