Just fixed my Symphony II Error Code 3 in my CD Changer HU...
I searched the forums but everyone seems to just pay the $250 for a swap (under warranty, that is). Well mine wasn't under warranty and I wasn't about to pay or give away a perfectly good HU for someone to fix it in 5min and resell it to another sucker.
The error code 3 is usually due to the CD getting stuck. In my case, I was a bone-head and took the HU out, turning upside-down while CD's were in the unit. They got stuck sideways. I just removed to top cover, left the power plugged in and turned it on to make the CD's straighten out. Then I unplugged it when they were flat. I then used a small screw driver just to line the CD's up. Put cover on (seemed not to work as well when the top was exposed) then plugged it up and held down eject. All CD's (3) came out. Great!
Now I took the cover back off and pulled the end of the moving spindle arm to put it back on track and it started to move again. The arm wouldn't work before, I think it got jammed by the CD's. I now put everything back together, installed and it works perfectly again.
This may be an easy fix for you if yours gets an error code 3.

Would is cause no sound in any of the speakers? I bought Audi A4 B7 with Symphony which turns on but outputs no sound, when i press CD it shows error 3, I checked the fuses near the door for radio and amp and they look good, i also swapped the amp and this also did not help. Any ideas?
