Default Just had a flat, I have a couple of questions (sport package ppl, listen up!).....

Well I managed to collect my second flat in 4 months. The first one was plugged and it happened at 300 miles. So I promoted my spare to be my regular wheel and had the plugged one as the spare.

Well now at 5300 miles I got my second flat. This one is in the sidewall so no chance of repair, I have to bite the bullet and buy a new tire.

So here are my questions:

1) Does anyone know if the Pirelly Pzero Rosso that came with my car is the slanted or the regular lettered version? TireRack sells both of them and I don't know which is the matching one. I don't think it's a big deal, but it'd be nice to have the matching one. I think the only difference is the lettering.

2) Should I put the new one on and use the plugged one with 300 miles on the other side and put a perfect tire with 5300 miles as the spare? Or should I use the plugged one as the spare and just put the brand new one on the car with the other 3 that have 5k+ miles on them?

Thanks!

Default it's my understanding that plugged tires no longer meet speed ratings, so

if that concerns you (it would to me), buy two new tires.

Default Match the tread on each axle, new ones up front. You can drill out the plug and patch it if desired.

(from the inside)

Default Actually I was wrong, it's already patched, not plugged.

So I guess I'll buy a new tire, put it on the front left (the spare was right side directional) put the spare on the front right and put the two old front ones to the rear. Then I'll put the one that has been the rear left as the spare. Sounds good to me! ($161 from TireRack, Grrrrr)

At least you'll be showing 2 new tires up front. For the money, not bad.
