Default 2008 or 2009 ?

Hello everyone. Moving here from Allroad side of the house
Looking t purchase low mileage 2008 or 2009 .... hoping to learn where my $'s are best invested.
Planning to stick with the 6 cylinder in both cases, hearing lot of chatter about 8 cylinders problems.
I like the looks of 2009, and newer is always newer right ?
Is the 3.0 engine much different / better compared to previous 3.2 ?
Also, I hear the 2008 model is better than 2005-2007 ..... why ?
One more important question, as a skier, I need to make sure the car comes with the skibag thing through the rear seat. I know this option was bundled together with heated rearseat in 2008 model, but in 2009 ? I heard they are separate option, is this true ? So just having the cold weather package doesn't automatically mean I get both (in 2009 that is) ?

All input appreciated, as always.

In Europe the 2009/2011 is the facelift model where most of the problems in the pre-facelift models have been corrected.

The MY 2009 A6 was the first year for the 3.0L TSI engine, which had a problem with the water pump. The MY 2008 A6 with the 3,2L FSI engine would be more reliable because it was the fourth year of the C6 platform, so all of the bugs have been fixed. For the skis, the cold weather package included the ski bag with rear seat heaters. You can add the access for the ski bag separately by buying the parts individually You'll need to cut the access thru the rear arm rest recess to retrofit).

ok, thanks for the info. I know that MY 2008 the "cold weather package" included both, heated rear seats and skibag. But how about for MY 2009 forward, were those 2 options bundled together in the "cold weather package" or were they separate options ?

I don't know. My '06 was a dream. My '08 has been a swift pain in the ***.

Thanks all.
Bought 2008 S-Line with Winter package 44K miles on it. Only thing missing is probably the technology package, silver. Rides nice. Just posted another thread about winter tires / wheels recommendations. Can't wait to put some miles on this thing.

Default 2005 A8 overheating.

Tempature gauge indicates overheating everything the AC is on. Once AC is off guage goes back to normal. Good advise please.
