Default Need help diagnosing spark plugs...any1 chipped should inspect theirs.

Well, it seemed every shop I went to never had the NGK plugs that were mentioened a while back...but it was imperative I change the plugs. As others have discussed, I too would have the misfires and hesitations when going full throttle and as I climbed through the upper RPM range.

Well, I took a look at my stock NGK plugs and have never seen this before...but the center electrode was no longer cylinder in shape but looked like a tear drop?!? The gap was correct, but the electrode practically comes to a point (imagine the shape of a candy kiss). Also, the plugs looked dark brown.

In looking around online I found one site that suggested this is a result of preignition (regarding the electrode deformation). For the time being, I'm running a copper autolite plug until the ngk's come in. And of course the hesitation is gone and it pulls smoothly through the rpm range. Does this mean that the chipped guys probably need to look at changing their plugs every couple thousand miles?

Default My experience with new plugs and Neuspeed chip!!

Last week I went to the dealer and had them change the undergapped stock plugs and put in copper NGK's gapped at .032. I have the Neuspeed 1.2 bar chip. Well my plugs look exactly like you describe to a tee. The stock plugs were highly undergapped. The car is now much smoother with that hesitation pretty much gone. As far as the car pulling better it seems like it does have a little more top end oommpph. Cant believe that the change actually worked!!

Default It looks as though , next to oil........plugs may be the cheapest routine maintenancemod goin'

if this works, I'm gonna spring for plugs every or every other oil change.

Default On many platinum plugs the center electrode does come to a sharp (or smaller) point.
