Default offset!!!

OK I really have a problem understanding offset. If I get 19"x8.5" rims with a 38 offset in the front and 28 in the rear, then slap some coilovers onto the ride will I rub???

Default ET28 is too much...or not enough.

The lower the offset the more the wheel sticks out. Stock is ET43 I think...ET35 works well, ET30 with a lowered suspension can rub.

Default You'd be better off getting 4 of the same wheels and using spacers in the rear...

If you just want a staggered look, go with spacers or else you won't be able to rotate your tires without remounting them every time.

Also, here's an explanation of offset and an offset calculator to give you an idea how it works...

<a href="http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=AR4&url=%2Fwheels%2Ftech%2Foffset.htm">Off set Explained</a>

<a href="http://toy4two.home.mindspring.com/offset.html">Offset Calculator</a>

To use the calculator, use a 7.5" wheel with a 45mm offset for the stock numbers. Then plug in your wheel dimensions to see the effects.
