Paging Aggregatvier..Question on Using 3.0L air vent on 1.8t Filterbox.....

You recently posted showing your 1.8t using the larger 3.0 air vent plenum leading to the hood grill....Does it really fit well and not touching any part of the 1.8t engine???....Seems one of the most sensible CAI upgrade.

Seems odd that Audi would make such an air restrictive version for the 1.8t model if the larger vent fits both engines.

i know! Sometimes the simplest things can be overlooked.
I just want to know if any difference is felt. As you can see, the 3.0 box looks as though it can suck in a lot more air.

There's definitely a change in sound. I'm hoping that's...
...from the massive quantities of good, cool air that are now flooding into my engine. I could feel the ECU compensating for the increase in air at first but it's starting to smooth out already.
The 3.0L air vent has an aerodynamically shaped dimple to clear the V6 engine. On the 1.8T it'd be better if this dimple area were a little more forward but it just clears the cam chain cover. It may be a problem later if the engine rocks too much. I guess I could dremel out the dimple area, move it forward more, and then rebuild and smooth out the gap. In the stock configuration you have to slip the 3.0L vent in from the air box side and then use a screwdriver to ease the lower edge into place.
Part number is 8E0 129 618 E and the ETKA incorrectly shows the 1.8T shape (the D version) in the 3.0L diagram.
