when i start the car in the morning, everything is ok until i actually start backing out... then i hear a groaning noise even when i am backing out straight.. it groans a bit higher when i turn.. only happens for the first 3 minutes of driving and it only happens in the mornings.. i know the dealer will think i am making things up because there is no way i can replicate it during the day.

They will go over it and have a chance to replicate the problem.

I will check my fluids tonight and i bet the fluid is either low,leaking, or steering pump needs to be replaced.

Was it cold out? I have the same problem in the morning here in chicago but it does go away right away.... No other problems the rest of the time I drive it so I would believe it has to do with something with semi frozen steering fluid...

i also reckon the overnight temperature got lower than 50, so the fluid may still be colder than the actual temperature at 8am.. sounds like you have my problem also. BUT i've had the car for 14 months and it just started doing this 2 weeks ago...so, if it did not do this when i got the car last year then it may be something that can be corrected. if it's more than just topping off the fluid, i'll post a follow up on this board.
