Default Quattro w/ different size tires (one new, others 2/3 worn) - is this bad?

I just picked up an Avant and the tires are approx 2/3 worn. The previous owner damaged one tire so he replaced it with a new one of the same brand and size. Will the slight discrepency due to tread depth do any harm to the Quattro system?

Default According to the manual...yes. Is it possible to get the new one shaved down? This would probably

be best. I have no actual experience with differing tire sizes, I'm simply going on recommendations from the manual and what others have said on the forum previously.

I wouldn't worry about it. I had to replace one tire at time before and the diff didn't explode.

Best thing would be to get another new tire so that one set has the same (new front or new rear).

Default no, torsen can handle 3% rolling difference, even with 10/32 tread difference it's only

it's only 1.2% rolling difference

Default just measured 7/32 to 10/32 on all four tires - not bad

So I am looking at a 3/32" difference. I don't think it is going to cause a problem. All four tires are the same Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S.
