Default Radio Install Help-

I am replacing my Symphony II radio with Kenwood X979 tonight and I need some help with the wiring. Specifically what wires do I need out of the Symphony II. I can't seem to find a wire harness that will plug directly in and I keep reading that people are having a hard time replacing the radios. Do I need to put a wire dierctly into the fuse box? Any help would be appreciated becuase I get the radio removal tools today and I would like to replace the radio this evening.

It's a 2004 A4 1.8T

Default Some answers.....

the remote turn on lead i ran directly from the fuse box...i found a fuse that switched with the ignition (its the one for the telephone i think, but i'm not sure - double check with a voltage meter before you wire things up). i stuck a wire in under the fuse and ran that under the steering wheel to the area behind the dash. as for the rest of the wires, i bought an adapter harness from audiboy464 to plug in constant +12V, ground, and signal wires for front speakers. I also bought an adaptor for the radio antenna off him. I don't have part numbers for these, but i believe if you look on autotoys.com you can find them. as for the rear speakers, i haven't finished doing it yet (long story) but i'm going to run rca's from the head unit to an aftermarket amp and then take speaker wires from that to the factory amp in the trunk (basically, use RCA's and an aftermarket amp to bypass the pos factory one). if you have any more questions, feel free to drop me an email. hope this helps
