I have a '00 A4 1.8T Quattro ... completely stock. Although I asked on several occassions, the dealer refused to change the rear brake pads b/c the idiot light didn't come on before the maintenance agreement expired at 50k miles.

After 60k miles I thought I better physically check my rear brakes ... still no idiot light. But what I found was that the caliper pistons had spun out beyond their limit. What I believe is that the rear brakes have been useless for a long time, probably since I started complaining to the dealer at about 40k miles.

Anyone ever hear anything like this before?! Or should I not be so shocked?
