Default start up noise
02 A4 Avant, 5spd, 54K miles...there is a high pitched squeal coming from the engine when I start it up....any thoughts?

Usually a squeal is associated with an accessory belt or one of the devices it drives. If the belt is loose or a pully is failing the squeal develops.

Default Sounds like mine when it happened. Could be the VBelt and/or vbelt tensioner.
Mine was the cause of a bad tensioner...dealer replaced the tensioner and belt and solved the squeaking!

Dealer changed out the tensioner and vbelt, as they diagnosed it to be the issue.
