Valentine one powered from map light area above RV mirror?

Valentine one powered from map light area above RV mirror?
Hi all,
I just got a Valentine 1 for my Boxster and did a permanent power install, but plan to use it in the A4 at times. It fits perfectly behind the RV mirror, and I dont want to run the power cord down to the lighter.
Has anyone tapped into power from the maplight/sunroof power source area? I'm also curious if I could just strip one end of the power cord to hot wire in and leave the plug end tucked behind the center sunvisor when not in use.
