Any guesses on B8 A4 U.S. engine offerings?

Stand in front of the car at idle and you'll notice it. But, get inside and you won't.
I could really care less what my car's idle sounds like when I stand outside by the hood.
Get in. Close the door and drive away. All sins are forgiven.
Would I like my car my idle to sound smoother from the outside? Well...yeah, sure.
Is it important to me? Nope.
Would I trade my 2.0T for any other car in it's class and price range? Not a chance. And no, I'm not "chipped" and won't be.

True, but you can't always say that.
BMW is pretty successful yet people still rave about the driving characteristics of their cars. More expensive, for sure, but it doesn't look like they've forgotten that some people do drive their cars for more than just the point A to B experience.

Sound got better at 20,000km for me (and others noticed the same thing)
Exhaust got a lot throatier which was strange but not complaining. Have it at 4000RPM and floor it and the sound is not bad for a four banger.
But yeah, I'd care less how it sounds at idle. Look at the M6, it sounds like crap at idle too.

Hmm, RX400h FWD - 32 city/27 hwy, RX400h AWD - 31 city/27 hwy
Looks like they get better city mileage than the 2.0T. And my average on the highway is pretty much comparable to 27.
The GS450h gets 25 city/28 hwy, which is not bad for a big V6.

Very true for BMW... but
Mercedes seems to have gotten worse and is only riding on its prestige these days... either that or I just don't like the styling, the interior, or the "luxury" it brings.
BMW is a great driving machine, but for every day driving (like going to the grocery store), it definitely hasn't improved much (interior, every day ride quality, etc...). But at least they listen to their drivers about the handling and performance. =)

Re: You need to read more about MLP. It is going to be firstly used in the A5.
I've read up on the new modular platform...at least read the snipits and rumors. It's obvious that Audi is intending to move the engine back and make the car lighter [bravo!], but what's unclear to me is exactly how much rearward engine movement and how much weight savings to expect.
Regarding engine placement, I've seen claims of 2-3 inches further back, 6-7 inches further back, and "behind the front axle". Personally, if the overhang is cut back more than 4-6 inches, I'd be surprised...but I'm certainly willing [and hoping] to be proven wrong.
