Default Hardwiring V1

Has anyone hardwired the V1? I hate those wires running all over - it would be so much neater to pull the power from the dome light assembly. Is there a DIY for this?

Default how to hard wire,

you get a little metal tab from radio shack that lets you tab into a fuse and it gives you something to steal power from, and you only use a fuse that gets power with the ignition, i used the sunroof.

run your cable down the space between the windshield and the liner, it fits but takes some lovin, and put the power convert box in the little opening where you get to the big steering fuse.

this has worked with every car my dad has ever owned and he passed the trick down to me and has always worked.

like i said dont use something that always gets power like the dome light because you will have to remember to turn it on and off every time.

great, thanks!

I have used the dome light hardwire on my current 335i. However, I have seen other folks use the fuse (homelink) method as well.

Get power from the fuse box with a fusetap and tuck the wire in the gap between the windshield and the roofliner. Very straight forward job.
