Hi, bought cheap FOB case replacements on Ebay. Just the cases, transferred hard key and circuit board. I tried programming but can't get it out of SAFE mode (appears in odometer window). My other original FOB works fine, and the "new" one (new case but original key and circuit board) will opena nd lock remotely but won't start, keep getting SAFE mode and engine stalls. Not a crisis since I have the other original FOB but would really appreciate any advice. I'm really puzzled that the new FOB will open and close remotely but can't get out of safe mode. When I use original key no safe mode ...

The SAFE mode would suggest there's an issue with the RFID immobiliser chip. You say you transferred the key and the circuit board. Did you transfer the immobiliser chip as well?

Thanks pal, no and I figured this out day after posting. Now it works fine. Makes me seem dumb but I had never done an Audi FOB case switch, Honda was much simpler.

But thanks so much for the reply this was the exact issue.
