Default Active Lane Assist

I just returned from a 3400 mile trip to Colorado. Several times along the way I would get a loud chime and a message on the virtual cockpit that read "Active Lane Assist - Please take over active steering." If I had not had my hands on the steering wheel, I would understand this message - but I had both hands firmly on the wheel. Has anyone else had this problem?

Probably in a very straight road and you were not providing any steering input. I think it not only requires you to hold the steering wheel but also to provide steering input. Kind of passively detecting the drowsiness.

The 2021’s have a sensor in the wheel that knows if your hand is resting on it, though it still occasionally throws false negatives.

A reasonable guess, I suppose. But I have driven long straight roads many times in the past and this has never happened before.

The 2017 A4 does not have a hands on detection steering wheel, so on a very straight road it is required to keep applying some force to the steering wheel. I got used to the "drunk driver" driving style in my 2017 A4 but it happened occasionally that I saw the warning.
