If for one reason or another you have the smaller 7.0" screen that comes stock on Premium or Premium Plus without the Nav/Tech package, have you consideredupgrading to the 8,3" screen? I've seen the wider screen available on eBay for about $500, but I don't know what is involved in the swap and if it's a simple DIY job.
Personally I could live without VC and factory navigation since CarPlay provides the navigation function nicely. I'm also old school and prefer traditional analog gauges to the VC gauges, but the smaller 7" screen without the chrome bezel looks somewhat cheap. So I was wondering if anyone has gone this route o skipping the Nav/Tech package but swapped out the MMI screen.

I heard you can just trim the cable on the old screen, put the new one and set the resolution by coding just like they do on BMW F30 cars but i dont know how. Anyone have tried this or can help?
