No, it doesn't.

It's not just glass though. There's a very thin layer of plastic that protects the windshield from shattering inwards/outwards. That layer also protects most of the UV rays. I put on pinnacle tint on the rest of the windows for the UV protection for the leather + it actually makes a pretty big difference in how hot the inside of the car gets.

You should install Llumar Air80 on the windshield and that, too, will fully protect your car from UV and additional heat coming in through the windshield.

Thabks for the tip. The plastic in windshields is rated at like 98% of uv ray protection plus I only park in garages most of the time. I'll live without it though.

Would you happen to know what happens to that film when the windshield is polished with a DA buffer? Everyone mentions how tough glass is and how difficult it is to remove swirls, but no one has ever mentioned the potential of damaging this plastic layer you mentioned.

The plastic layer is between the inner and outer layers fo glass. All windshields, independent of the manufacturer consist of two layers of glass with a very tough flexible plastic film in between.
