Is the A4 Cabriolet 3.0 quattro available with a manual transmission in the US?
I currently lease a 225 TTR that will go back to Audi soon. I want an A8, but my g/f want's a convertible. She loves that TT and I need some more trunk space and wouldn't mind the extra two seats. So the A4 Cab would be a nice compromise I guess.
I'd like to have a manual in that 3.0 quattro. Does anyone know if Audi will offer one, or will it be Tip only?

It only comes with a 5 speed (I assume the current one in the A4). I have not heard talk of a manual in the US at least.
I hope to have mine next week
Red/Black top
Beige interior.
Every option but the outdated Nav.(still CD based and splits about 2 blocks from where I live)

Consider the CVT...
I am a big manual fan. I actually hate Audi's and Porsche's Tiptronic tranny. It saps power, is slow to shift in 'manual' mode, and is generally clunky (although I heard the RS6's Tiptronic is far improved).
But, the CVT changed everything. Although it's a little less fun than a manual (because you have to work less), Audi's CVT transmission is, in my view, superior to a manual.
Why? Well first it technically is better; it's lighter, more fuel efficient, and even goes 0-60 faster than a manual (in automatic mode).
What's really amazing is how it manually shifts. At first I was surprised that there was no jolt when switching gears. I thought it was not working properly, but in reality, it was working all too well. What is going on is when you downshift from 2nd to 1st for example, the RPM promptly jumps up, but, the speed slows down smoothly, without a jolt. I think this is the exact point where people find it 'weird' feeling. What really is going on is an ideal control of power at an unprecedented level of smoothness. There is actually no 'slip'.
The only downside to the CVT is that it's not mated to Quattro yet and that NA customers don't get the steering wheel controls any more.
The CVT's auto mode is the best I've experienced as well. It's very well programmed, exhibiting no undesired up or downshifts at odd times.
The 2004 Cabriolet will have a new 'sport' mode for the CVT (where it retards upshifting in Auto mode). Also, the 2004 Cab will offer Quattro, but alas, not for the Multitronic CVT.

Re: Consider the CVT...
I totally agree with you.
The CVT transmission on the Cab is by far the best feature of the car and it amazes everyone who travels in it.
I don't have the 3.0, but in the UK we also have a 2.4 V6 too, and I love the beautiful sound the engine and exhaust make :-)
