Default ironic? Or German cars in general

WEll my first two weeks of owning my BMW Z4 was great except for the dimming rear view mirror freaking out and breaking. Now, thereason I go rid of the cab was all the trips to the dealership for things like that --final strw was the crap they puton me seats and replacing my seat covers so poorly. Anyway, they got the parts in , took the car, gave me a loaner --so far so good----the when I got the car they had to tell me about the liquid stuff in the mirror spilling on my seats---for good. Won't come out--also got on the shifter cousel. Well what's this got to do with Audi? Nothing, except now I await the arrival of a new seat cover.
I'll blow a head gasket ( in my head of course) if the seats turn out like my late A4 cab's--

-----sigh----------

Default I really think it's luck of the draw

Bummer about your seats, shouldn't they replace them????

My first car was a Renault Laguna (notoriously unreliable French car), which in 35,000 miles and 5 years never had one single little thing go wrong. I then changed it for a Golf GTI in '99 which had to go back to the dealer 6 times in the first few months of ownership. Needed a new sunroof surround (they forgot to put in the sunvisor and the blind was broken!) and alarm system and had loads of other niggles and was a pile of crap until they finally sorted it out (within the first year). Am generally happy with the Audi apart from 2 minorish things that need sorting, but then again I've only done 7,500 kms in 9 months so there's still time

I've heard that the new BMs aren't as reliable as previous models

Default German built cars....

Mind you, this is our first Audi. But we have had german-built volkswagens for years. (a 1989 VW Cabriolet by Karman, a 1984 Vanagon, a 1996 VW Passat GLX) The VW Cab was terrific, only vandals and car insurance scammers made that car go away. The Vanagon was great but developed valve and cooling problems when old. We bought a new Passat and within 50 miles the transmission screwed up. A replacement car (yes, a new one fresh off the truck) had no transmission problems for over a year, then a memory chip was replaced to make it work perfectly again, we owned that car for 110,000 miles. Our new Audi 3.0 Cab is a really good car, we've only had it in for one oil change. I think Paris UK is right, some folks - some times- get the short straw.

I hope you have zero problems with your Audi! I had no problems until I hit the 12,000 mile mark. Of course it was a 2003 so new model car bugs may have been the issue. My 2001 VW beetle was a pain in the butt with a lot of electrical problems, my 2002 Allroad had to be returned to Audi for all sorts of mechanical and electrical problems. Come to think of it....my Acura TL had some problems as well with outof round wheels and shorting out air bag systems. I think it's me--some telekentic power that turns relaible cars to clunkers.

I'm still thinking of an A-8 in 2006......

Default Steve, it sounds like you're jinxed !

At the rate I'm going it'll be another 2 years before I get to 12,000 miles (about 18,00 kms)! Seriously though, your case sounds really unusual. Have you thought about a bicycle (although I wouldn't reccommend an Audi bike!)?
