A6 C7 3.0 TDI - Power Steering Problem after driving in floods
All was well until i drove through a puddle of water at around 40 kmph, but then it threw a warning saying "Steering Malfunction, you can continue to drive", this was in yellow. Now the steering wheel light was yellow. The steering was tighter than usual, but it was still very much drive-able.
When i took the car again, it turned red and the message said, you cannot drive and the steering got super stiff, thankfully there wasn't much traffic when this happened.
The error says, Position sensor for Motor - Implausible signal, at Steer Assist(44), im attaching the images on what VCDS had to say.
Any guesses on what could have gone wrong ? Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.
as of now, it has a priority 1 error, earlier, it had priority 2 as in the image below.
this was when the light was yellow, steering was working partially

Found this on another forum - though I think this will only work for the yellow alert and not the orange/red one:
This is because the steering angle sensor (g85) loses basic settings and requires recalibration via the method stated above.
1) start engine
2) centralise wheel ±10° hold for 5 seconds
3) turn steering wheel completely to the left hold for 2 seconds
4) turn steering wheel completely to the right hold for 2 seconds
5) center steering wheel ±10°
6) turn ignition/engine off and wait for 1 minute
7) turn ignition on wait for 5 seconds the steering lamp should go off.
This will reset the steering positioning sensors. If it is red, though, it is likely the sensor is damaged (water for OP, freeze damage for the 2nd post).
