Default 2.7T Timing Belt Change In Service Position

Just completed changing my timing belt and accessory belt. I was able to do this simply by placing carrier into service position. The rented tools from bluparts.com was everything I needed. Also placing the carrier in service position allowed me to only have to disconnect lower coolant hose and washer hose. I would also strongly suggest removing the Cam, this will allow the new timing belt to be installed properly. Remember to lossen the CAM SOCKETS prior to removing the old timing belt. If there are any questions, please let me know. The Audiworld 2.7T tech post and Bentley Manual a must.

Default I AM THE KING OF BANDWAGON JUMPING! me too

I'm not looking forward to tearing the whole front end of my 4.2 apart to change the thing.

anyway, I'm glad yours went so smoothly, I think that those are some decent pointers for those that want to DIY it.

I think I may just do mine when I pull the hood and bumper to do paint work to my front end (blankity blank blank rock and bug chips)

HELPFUL TIPS:
.1) I CLEANED UP MY GARAGE PRIOR TO STARTING
.2) INVENTORIED ALL NEEDED TOOLS AHEAD OF TIME
(24 MM WRENCH NEEDED FOR CRANKSHAFT)
.3) AFTER USING TOOL PUT IT BACK.
.4) REFERE TO TECH POST AND MANUAL OFTEN
.5) PUT THE FAN BACK ON BEFORE PUTTING EVERYTHING BACK TOGETHER!! BUT IF U FORGET, YOU CAN PUT FAN ON WITHOUT TAKING EVERYTHING APART AGAIN.

I WOULD SAY 20 HRS OVER 2 DAYS, THE TIMING ITSELF ONLY TOOK 1-2 HOURS. SINCE ITS WAS MY FIRST TIME W/MY AUDI I TOOK MY TIME. WORKED EXTREMELY SLOW. I WAS CAREFUL TO KEEP TRACK OF EVERY NUT, BOLT, AND SCREW. I ALSO CHANGED MY SPARK PLUGS. WORK SLOW, DO WHEN YOU HAVE TIME, PEACE AND QUITE!!!
