Default A6 4.2 or B6 S4?

What will be my next car?

1. It must be auto (wife factor)
2. Currently in am A4 1.8T, sick of turbo lag.
3. Luxury features matter (eg. memory seats, steering wheel stereo controls, dual climate control, etc.)
4. Mojo matters too, I'm approaching 40 and need a ***** extension.

Default You need the A6. S4 will be too small for you.

I went from an A4 1.8T to an A6 4.2 and I am completely happy with it.

Go with the S4, less troubles overall.

Had the same issue and went for A6 4.2 and I am not looking back! They are 2 very different cars though. The A6 is a sporty luxury car, the S4 is sportier, slightly tigher and more responsive. The A6 is no slough though, just not as crisp as the S4 but in return offers space and I am sorry but the A6 with the fenders is just the best looking car, period!

Default B6 S4 is much, much sportier, and much, much smaller. If you've gotta have TIP, and want the luxury

go 4.2. Those fender flares got mojo written all over 'em. Sweetness.

Default Just made the switch myself

I just bought a 2002 A6 4.2, a car with plenty of luxury, style, looks and mojo. Get up and go power comapared to my 98 A4 1.8T manual (APR chipped). The V8 is so smooth, and the wife is happy she can drive it. Buy used and down the dpreciation curve, save some money

I thought troubles with the A6 were turbo related? What's the reliability record of the 4.2?

Default Don't listen to V-STC (previously known as Vibrating 4.2, Highroller) he has

no factual knowledge whatsoever. He has been a continuos TROLL for the last year from one user name to another.
