Default Clutch Problem

Yesterday the clutch in my 2000 2.7T 6SP (7000 miles) developed a "notchy" feel. When you depress or release the clutch you can feel it with your left foot and, sometimes, a little bit in the shifter. This sometimes occurs below the engagement point, sometimes above. Clutch seems to work OK otherwise. Any ideas?

Sounds like an engine mount issue.

Default Sounds like the throwout bearing failing

Had the same symptom on a BMW some years ago. After a few weeks of notchiness, it failed altogether. Get it into the dealer.

I had the exact same problem. While the dealer was replacing the turbos (unrelated failure) he took a look at the clutch and found something in the linkage between the slave cylinder and the throwout bearing. It is now as smooth as it was new. They also replaced the clutch but that was because they saw some burning and maybe because I have had so many things go bad on my car they just felt that they might as well replace the clutch while the engine was out anyway.

So it's a hydraulic clutch? The problem seems to be worse when the car/weather is cold and goes away when warm. What happened with your turbos? What were the symptoms?

Maybe, but it goes away when the car warms up. Also, it happens whether or not the engine is running.
