Default How do I remove these clamps?

Working on aux pump replacement. Never encountered these oem clamps before and at a loss as to how to properly remove them.

Any tips?

you have to bend the retaining clip, honestly just cut them and replace with hose clamps (screw type). these types of clips are usually one and done unless your good and getting them apart. hose clamps are so much better in my eyes

screwdriver, cutters, dremel, pliers, lots of force, cursing, anything that you think you can use to spread it apart.
i normally use a pair of cutters to grip them good and just twist and pull until they come off.

dont get me wrong, there is a way to bend the retaining clip back to release it, and if your carful you can crimp it back together, but it realy is a pain in the ***, either have spares to throw on, or replace with hose clamps and enver worry again

Awesome, I used needle nose pliers to bend the retaining nub back, then basically brute force to get them released and bent enough to remove from the hose. Four down, a couple dozen to go. But still a small victory for a newb like me taking on this job. Thanks again.

And yeah, I have plenty of new screw type clamps to use when I put it all back together.

Those clamps are "produced" by automated machine so there is no question on the quality of the crimp. They are faster, more accurate and can produce a data point in the records, showing the crimp was made and the parameters of that crimp.

They are designed to be single-use. High end EU OEM's have been using them for decades and I believe EVERYBODY there uses them now.

I don't think the dealer service bays even have the machine. At least they didn't, 'back-in-the-day', when I had a warranty and would actually let them touch my car. If they needed to remove a factory hose clamp, a stainless gear clamp would take it's place.

Personally, I would look with suspicion at any re-used unit !

agreed, im just saying in a pinch, they CAN be reused if your careful, but my reccomendation is always the worm gear hose clamp, except in the cases of boost hoses, which then always get a band clamp!
