New A6 lighter than old one?
A quote from an audi press release :
"The use of aluminium (for the front lid, wings and various interior components) and high-strength steels including stainless steel, coupled with increased use of tailored blanks, has led to a reduction in the body weight of around 30 kilograms.
"
I'm not sure if they are reffering to the overall curb weight being lower or just the body shell.<ul><li><a href="http://news.kak.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=news&file=arti cle&sid=1226&mode=thread&order=0&t hold=0">http://news.kak.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=news&file=arti cle&sid=1226&mode=thread&am

So the "30 kg" weight reduction is (as speculated) just a body-shell reduction. It has nothing to do
