Default Two sets were brand new...one was used on the 4.2 (snows)...

I first noticed the problem around 5000 miles...and it has been persistent, although unexplainably somewhat variable in severity...always there to some extent, but worse at times...just drove it around 35 miles just now...and it was very minor...just felt in the steering wheel. With the 4.2 it was felt throughout the chassis...although it varied also...
I believe there is some harmonic resonance problem within the steering/suspension...that ultimately causes tires to wear slightly unevenly which makes the problem MUCH worse. I know this doesn't make a whole lotta sense...but I gotta go with it right now

Default Makes alot of sense...

that's my #1 theory too.
My S4 tires wore uneven as much as 1/16th side to side. At which point they started to vibrate.

Maybe alignment hastens the problem on some cars and not others.

Default Yes I did, jsut last evening....

been down in the Indy area on business and frankly haven't had a lot of time to do anything else.

On the wheels, my first choice is to find a set of S6 17x8 Avus wheels for the allroad. If I can't find any, I'm considering yours.

Any luck on a new ride yet?
