If it makes you feel better, others have done this and claimed it through insurance...and...

...told the truth about how the glass got broken. This is an honest claim.

I have new Euro headlights and fresh front end paint. I avoid gravel haulers

I did something similar and put it through insurance...

I told them up front that I had broken the windshield myself. The only question they had was if I had done it on purpose, I said no, it was stupidity on my part...they covered it with no issues

I cracked our allroad windshield when I replaced the RV mirror. Ins. did not cover as we

a $ 500 comp. deductable & $ 1k collision. I had it replaced by a glass shop for $ 380 and avoided a claim.
