Windshield Washer Reservoir

Windshield Washer Reservoir
The windshield washer reservoir is leaking somewhere, and not retaining water, thus keeping the Info Display lit on the dash. Most annoying! I took off the pump, and found that that the plastic housing was split in four places by expanding rust inside the pump.
Questions:
1. Does anyone have any pictures of the reservoir, and where rubber washers or gaskets are located?
2. Can one temporarily jump the wires at the plug, to "fool" the display? Once I re-assemle everything with a new pump, that should solve the pump issue, and I wouldn't need the jump wires, but I still want to make certain it doesn't leak where the pump attaches into the reservoir, at the bottom.

There is a great tech writeup on the reservoir pump replacement...
...it's for a B5 S4, but the process is almost exactly the same for the C5 A6 platform cars...

washer pump replacement

It's usually the headlight washer pump that dies, and...
...since I rarely (never) use it, my solution on my old A6 avant was to pull the pump out and insert an old valvestem from a tire. I capped it and stuck it cap first into the rubber grommet. It sealed tight and lasted two years until I sold the car.

That's it, Boston Driver,
This is exactly what my pump looks like (it's sitting right here on my desk), and is the one that failed with rusted-out guts.
Funny how A4 stuff is almost identical to A6 stuff. But it makes sense if you're the manufacturer, since commonality is a cost-saving virtue to all.
Thanks for the information.
How many other such articles are "missig" in the current list of Tech Articles, I wonder?
