Default Now, now. Some enthusiasts like such antiquated technologies as...

...rear-wheel drive, so they can burn the tread off the rear tires easily and fishtail about on wet/gravel/snowy surfaces and oversteer in curves. This says more about the reviewers than the reviewees, as far as I can see.

The specs tell a lot -- the RS6 is not as long (by 8") or as tall (by an inch and 3/4); it weighs more (due to the quattro system, no doubt) but it has way more power/weight and far more torque over a wider range of rpm. It has bigger wheels and tires and higher speeds in all gears (up to the 155 limit).

But, oh dear oh dear, it has worse gas mileage. Maybe that's why they picked the bimmer. HPH

Default Come on, we're driving enthusiasts here, right? Do I really need to mention...

...that there is way more to driving enjoyment than straight-line speed? WAY more?

By the way, I love the RS6, and would choose it over the M5 in a heartbeat if I had the money. I'm just saying it's ridiculous to cry, "Bias!", when the results show the RS6 clearly winning only one of the *many* categories of automotive performance and appreciation.

Drive what *you* want to drive; drive what makes *you* happy. If instead it's all about who's got the bragging rights, that's sad and no one can help you.

Default My word... 0-60 in 4.6?

Who cares what the mags pick...

RS6 has grip with quattro, twin turbos, is fast as sh*t, etc etc etc.

M5 has a stick.

How much fun they are to drive is subjective. But car mags always want a stick... if the RS6 had one, they would go over the RS6's head and make 996TT and 360 modena comps... you know this. =)

But whatever, I just love that feel of grip you get in a quattro car.

Default Numbers for M5 dont seem right. It has tested low to mid 13's

and under 5 seconds for 0-60. Just numbers though. I guess it wins because of its handling??? Never driven one. And again never driven a RS6 or Jag "R".
Boy that Jag is starting to look like a performance bargain. i bet a lunch the 1/4 mile times come in lower than the 14.1. A for those who call is blan. boring, I think it looks Stately!!. Classic looking car.

Default I would really like to know what was moved in the engine bay to acccomdate the twin turbos....

Also does this give hope to an after market upgrade for 4.2 owners.

Default Correct. The UK motor press always seem to favour BMW over Audi

and they'll happily admit it's because the beemer is more fun to drive because you can flick the back end out and play with it, whereas a quattro is boring and safe in comparison.

Of course, most of them get to go tracking regularly in high-performance RWD cars, so that's what they know how to drive to maximum advantage. I'm sure if they spent some ttime learning to drive quattro properly, they'd have a better opinion of it.

The only one who can display some objectivity IMHO is Tiff, but he used to race quattros IIRC so perhaps he's just a bit biased in Audi's favour?
