Cone filter was less than $20 on Ebay and a direct bolt onto the MAF with I.D. being 3.5". There is indeed a seat of pants increased pull and a solid increase in induction sound. Problem is I feel so dirty, since these vehicles are too pristine for "ricing". However, subjective impressions are what they are on performance; more pull and raunchy induction noise. Old paper element was a dust-bowl, so I will reverse the sacrilege when a proper replacement comes in and revert to a closed boxed/paper element.

On second thought, sounding like a police cruiser in pursuit at WOT doesn't really match the character of this vehicle. Banged out the dusty paper filter and re-installed it until the Mann replacement comes in. Perhaps am at the point where preservation of stock is the new ideal. Just cancelled the H&R rear sway bar order. At this stage in life, no longer being Fast and Furious, guess it is time to settle for being Fat and Flabulous. Good to know Audi offers products that appeal across the broad spectrum of customer demographics. Perhaps this one is a keeper.
