Can anyone else feel the car changing gears as you brake to a stop?
I can feel the car changing down gears as I brake, which wouldn't be bad except it's intrusive enough to affect my brake modulation (in order to come to a smooth stop when I wanted to stop rather than a few feet shorter).
Has anyone else noticed this? no other auto I have driven in recent memory does this and sometimes the gear changes are clunky enough to make braking swiftly an unpleasant experiences.
I hope nobody else feels this, because then my car may have a problem that can be fixed

Definitely. It took me a while to get use to the jerky gear
downshifts especially when slowing down to a stop. Initially, I always thought the transmission was in the sport mode due to the rough downshifts, but surprisingly it was actually in "D". I'm always wondering why the car doesn't offer smooth downshift when in "D" mode. In comparison, my in-law's E320 4matic is so smooth that I don't even feel the transmission is downshifting.

In "D" hardly ever, and in "S" only clunky shifting to 1st as I slow down. .
. . .but since it seems to eliminate tip lag, I think of it as a small price to pay.
In D mode, the indicator on the dash is practically the only way I know the downshifts have happened.
