Hi. You will need a vag com and to reset the Central Electronic module, then Measuring Blocks**and you will look for steering wheel and you gonna reset to basic settings. I don't quite remember which group was.

It has happened to me three times. Twice they had to replace the entire sterling column. Once they were able to fix it with a software fix. Here is a TSB on the steering column. http://uberlame.com/a6_tsb/Electrica...noperative.pdf

Try this before bringing to the "AUDI TECH TEAM"

[09] - Central Electronics

Basic Setting

Steering Column Adjustment

Prerequisites:

Steering Column or the Central Electronics Control Module (J519) have been replaced.
Approach all 4 end positions (up, down, forward, back).

[Select]
[09 - Central Electronics]
[Basic Settings - 04]
Group 001
[Go!]
Activate the Basic Setting.
[ON/OFF/Next]
The adjustment should now be learned.
[Done, Go Back]
[Close Controller, Go Back - 06]

Mine would not go down with the switch, but would go down with the memory so I knew it was s switch issue. I sprayed it with compressed air then electrical contact cleaner, now it works fine.

Much thanks! Reset of controller calibration confirmed problem was not mechanical, thus saving money expended on potential parts purchase. Audiworld and Ross-Tech make Audi ownership divine vs. vehicle makes without such support.

I don't know if you're still active here, but I just used this procedure to rectify the same issue that the original post described, albeit on a 2012 Audi Q7. Thank you!

He has been gone for a few years. Glad the procedure worked.
