On my 06 C6, I have to push the button twice and quite hard to get the engine to shutoff in Drive..

Hmmm......that's interesting. I only have to use the same force as used when normally turning it off. But as I said before, when I was drifting the car in drive I tried to turn it off and it would not turn off (which is a good thing). But when sitting still with it in drive, it would turn off.

Thinking about it, My attempts to do this, were while I was tired, just pulled into driveway tried to turn off the car with it still in drive. HA, I have not done this as a "test" so I was probably just frustrated that I could not shut off the car.

I don't quite understand your post. Did you try it in drive while sitting still and while slowly moving in drive? What were the results of each?
