Does anyone know if it is the same as resetting the TCU with Rosstech or is it a new software update? I found this from Dec 2017 on Audizine.

Just wondering if those of you who had the clutch adaptation done had it done under warranty? My 2015 S7 is coming up on the expiration of the new car warranty in late September but also have a CPO warranty for two more years. Not sure if better to get it in before the new car warranty expires or just have the adaptation done when I go in for my annual service in late October...........any thoughts or experience?

When it was done to my car, it was no charge, after it was done they asked me if I wanted the 45K service done while it was in there (though at 42K); so initially I knew it was no charge despite the Audi Care kicking in.

Good to hear the results are good. My 2015 S7 goes in tomorrow and hoping they will do the clutch adaptation. My new car warranty expires at end of month so getting it done now as service advisor said it would not be covered by my CPO warranty.
You wrote that you got your car back today, did you have to leave it with the dealer? Though someone on this thread wrote that it takes a bit under 2 hours to do..........

Yeah i left it there for 3 days over the long weekend because they needed 2-3 hour to do the adaptation and I wanted my service manager to test drive it afterwards yesterday (Tuesday) to see if it was done properly.

A7 has the 8 speed transmission, no? There are no true clutches (there are technically clutches within the planetary gears, but not between the engine and transmission unless you count the torque converter lockup as a clutch). The 7 speed has clutches. can someone find out what they are actually adapting on the 8 speed transmission?

Chris is absolutely right. The A7 and the RS7 don't have "clutches" or plates that move like clutches in their 8 speed automatic transmissions.
The VCDS steps above are for the S-tronic which is a dual clutch transmission.

Update: Car shifts rough/jerks between gears when acceleration especially in sports mode and when slowing down it jerks a little with downshifting. Audi sent a new transmission software and the dealer redid calibration and it still sucks. IT surges sometimes..... I believe its a bad mechatronic unit. My dealer is going to send data to Audi on Monday and the car is left at the shop for now. I got A6 loaner and wow it shifts so silky in normal, sports and manual paddle shift. I miss this on my A7...
