Brake caliper painting
My front calipers are rusted on the A7, especially the center aluminum plate on the caliper. Who has done the painting themselves with or without taking them off? How do you prep the surfaces if you don't take the brake calipers off?

The center plate appears to be stamped sheet metal. Wire brush it, sand it, clean off with caliper cleaner and spray it with a premium spray paint.
I'll be painting mine in a month or two when the temperatures rise above 60*F. I've been using Krylon black gloss for years on my old car and got a couple cans of black matte Krylon MAXX for the A7. I usually remove the rotor and hang the caliper but I hear that the bracket bolts are single use only so I might do it when I install my ceramic pads.
Here's a link that I dropped a bunch of pictures in about a year ago.

Thanks tenspeed. I don't think I will be painting the whole caliper/bracket. I most likely will just paint the center plate silver. Much much easier...
