Key not recognized?
Hi all,
The other day I went to get into the car and suddenly the car wouldn’t start and I got an error message that says key not recognized. I had to hold the key up to the center console to start the car. At first I could open the doors with the sensor in the door handle but now comfort access doesn’t work at all and I have to use the buttons on the remote to lock and unlock the car. Right around the same time I also got a start/stop system function fault.
I replaced the battery in the fob and it worked for a day and then stopped again.
Anyone know what the cause of this is? I’ve read online sometimes it happens when another Audi key gets too close but I haven’t been near anyone recently and basically just been going to my grocery store and shops to run errands.
I’ve also tried to “program” the key by inserting the physical key in the driver door lock and turning left and right but that hasn’t helped.
Any insights would be appreciated.

Update: Took apart my keyfob and cleaned all the contacts with a q-tip. They didn't look dirty, but it seemed to have solved it. No idea why or what caused it as I changed my battery weeks ago and the issue didn't crop up until 2 days ago.
