2001 A8L: Where is the Central Locking Unit located?

2001 A8L: Where is the Central Locking Unit located?
The power locks stopped working suddenly a few days ago. I checked the fuses and all is okay there, other items on the same circuit are working okay. When I use the key fob or the button on the driver's door to lock everything - nothing happens. I don't hear any sound or anything. Where is this "thingy" that powers the locking system?

If I remember correctly, it's in the rear driver's side fender, behind the dress panel, behind the CD changer/NAV unit.
