Thanks to this Audi Forum I recently got some great contacts to find a replacement Air Bag Control Module for my 1998 A8 Quatro.

Does anyone have any Guidance, Advice or Resources to support the replacement of the Module. Audi Dealer wants 5 hours of labor to replace the module with a new one and they will not install a rebuilt or replacement part.

Are their repair manuals online ?

I understand that the Module is placed in a "safe" location to minimize damage in an accident but since these things fail in 5 to 10 years it seems nuts that it is $1,300 - $1500 to replace this little piece of electronics.

Not familiar with the A8, but when I had the Audi recall on V8 airbag modules performed, they took the top and front off the dash to get to it.

If it requires removal of the dash I can see why it take a mechanic 5 hours - those things are awful.

What model year your Audi with the recall ?

Audi recalled all the 1990 V8s (I have two), I think, for airbag issues. I don't know about other years. I can't find my TSB website link.
